Question: How about your best guesses as to whom the returning injured players replace on the roster? From: Michael Janofsky

Answer: Michael, I would guess that barring new injuries, which would affect roster composition, Emmanuel Rivera would be most vulnerable when infielder Jordan Westburg returns, which could be Tuesday. When catcher Gary Sánchez returns, Maverick Handley would be vulnerable. If Cedric Mullins and Tyler O’Neill are ready next week, it would seem the choice would be among Dylan Carlson, Heston Kjerstad and Jorge Mateo.

Question:  Ryan Mountcastle is again eligible for arbitration at the end of the season. Can the Orioles not offer him or any eligible players arbitration and they become free agents? From: Ricky Shaw in North Carolina.

Answer: Ricky, it’s common for teams to not offer a contract to a player when they think he’ll get an uncomfortably high salary in arbitration. It’s called non-tendering.
